ManUp for Mental Health

About Us

What ManUp for Mental Health Means to us…

  • To ManUp is to stand up, to speak out, and to ask for help.
  • To ManUp is to take control of your substance use and take care of your mental health.
  • To ManUp is to understand that none of us are impervious to feelings nor impenetrable to illness.

It’s time we stopped ignoring the problem. It’s time to start the conversation. It's time to ManUp for Mental Health.

There is a problem

Research shows that men are less likely to ask for help when they are struggling with mental health issues. Our organization focuses around planning events to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and create a safe and supportive campus community where everyone can feel comfortable reaching out for help.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health

Research also shows that men are more likely to use substance use as a coping mechanism for mental health issues, which can exacerbate the issues as well as increase risk of addiction. Many of our events are catered towards educating young people on this issue and teaching safe substance use with an emphasis on moderation and learning about more constructive coping mechanisms.
